Norton Personal Firewall

Use the following steps to allow ActiveSync ports in Norton Personal Firewall.r

Step 1

Start the Norton Personal Firewall application.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2

Click on the "Personal Firewall" icon in the main window and Click Configure button in the right pane.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3

A Personal Firewall Settings window will pop up. Navigate to the "Programs" tab.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4

In the "Programs" Tab to get to the "Program Control" window. Click on the Add button to add an application.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 5

Navigate to the Microsoft ActiveSync installation folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\ if installed in C drive with default settings).

Click on the WCESMgr.exe and click Open.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 6

A "Program Control" window will pop up. In the "What do you want to do?" dropdown, select Permit.

Click OK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 7

Repeat steps 5 and 6 to add the following applications:

  • Wcescomm.exe

  • Rapimgr.exe

  • CEAPPMGR.exe

(C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\ if installed in C drive with default settings)

When all of these are added, the "Program Control" window should show these programs in the list at the bottom.

Navigate to the "Advanced" tab

 

Step 8

In the "Advanced" Tab, click on General…

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 9

In the General Rules Window, click on Add.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 10

In the Add Rule Wizard, make sure that the "Permit" radio button is pressed and hit Next.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 11

In the following screen, make sure that the "Connections to and from other computers" is pressed.

Click Next.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 12

Leave the next screen as is.

Click Next.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 13

In the next screen, make sure that "TCP and UDP" radio button is pressed.

Also make sure that "Only the types of communication or ports listed below" is pressed.

Click Add.

 

 

 

Step 14

In the "Specify Ports" window, make sure that "Individually specified ports" is pressed and "Remote" is pressed.

In the port entry field below, enter "26675" as shown.

Click OK.

 

 

 

Step 15

Click Next until you get to the "Description" screen. Choose a name for the rule and click Next.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 16

You can choose to apply this rule to any location profile in the next screen.

Click Next.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 17

Click Finish in the final screen.
